How it Happened
Rhode Island fell to Stony Brook, 68-58, Saturday afternoon at the Ryan Center. The Rams struggled to score throughout the game, shooting just 35.5% from the field and 2-for-24 from 3-point territory.

Although Rhode Island (2-2) led for much of the first half, the Rams were unable to distance themselves from the Seawolves. With the score tied at 19, Stony Brook used a 13-4 run to pull ahead 32-23 with 4:00 left in the half. Back-to-back baskets by Jeff Dowtin, followed by a layup from Cyril Langevine got the Rams back within five, but that was as close as they got before the break as Stony Brook headed to the lockerroom up 35-30.

Stony Brook (5-1) had total command of the second half, while the Rams shooting struggles continued. Rhody cut the Seawolves lead to seven points (45-38) after a Dowtin jumper at 13:39, but Stony Brook kept its foot on the gas. The Seawolves went up by as many as 15 points - their largest lead of the game - with 5:01 left and never looked back, cruising to the 68-58 victory.
