Priore Named CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island quarterback Vito Priore has been named the CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Rams to a comeback win at Brown, the league announced Monday morning.

Priore - a redshirt junior from Atlanta, Ga. - completed 31-of-44 passes for 389 yards and three touchdowns as Rhode Island rallied to beat Brown, 31-28. The victory captured Rhody's second straight Governor's Cup.

With his team trailing 28-24 with 8:13 remaining in the fourth quarter, Priore went 4-of-5 for 62 yards and hit Aaron Parker for a 14-yard touchdown pass for the game-winning score. The touchdown capped a 6-play, 63-yard drive on which Priore accounted for all 63 yards. Overall in the final quarter, Priore was 7-for-8 for 98 yards. It was the third 300 yard passing yardage game and third three-touchdown game of the season for Priore.

One of the nation's top passers, Priore ranks fourth in the country in passing yards per game (343.4), eighth in total passing yards (1,717), 17th in passing touchdowns (12) and 25th in passing efficiency (149.2). With his three touchdown passes Saturday, he moved into eighth place in Rhode Island history with 19 career touchdown passes. 

Priore is the second Rhode Island player to win a weekly honor from the CAA this season. Senior wide receiver Aaron Parker also earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 9.

Rhode Island is back in action Saturday, Oct. 12 when it travels to Virginia Tech for a non-conference game. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
