KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's 2020 football recruiting class was ranked as the No. 2 class in CAA Football by 247Sports.com and the No. 4 class by HeroSports.com.

According to 247Sports.com's ratings of incoming freshmen, Rhode Island had four three-star recruits. That tied the Rams with James Madison for tthe

HeroSports.com ranks Rhode Island has the No. 25 recruiting class among FCS schools. The Rams were the fourth-highest class in CAA Football, ranking behind only James Madison (No. 1), Delaware (No. 3) and Villanova (No. 6).

The HeroSports.com rankings are based solely on high school recruits. Transfers are not factored in, which is the biggest difference between HeroSports.com's ranking and 247Sports.com.

Among individual player rankings, defensive lineman Westley Neal (South Miami, Fla.) was rated by HeroSports.com as the No. 3 overall recruit, behind only Stephen F. Austinn defensive lineman Branard Wright and FAMU defensive back Benjamin Onwuzo.

Wide receiver Zion Jackon (Sanford, Fla.) made the HeroSports.com Top 300 list at No. 30 overall. Jackson was the third-highest wide receiver rated, and fellow wideout Jalen Williams (Clermont, Fla.) was just outside the list at No. 305.
