KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's Chris Francoeur has been named to the 2020 PING All-Northeast Region Team, announced Saturday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Francoeur is one of just three Atlantic 10 golfers to earn the honor, and one of seven golfers from New England programs to be recognized.
The Amesbury, Mass. native - who entered the spring season ranked 12th nationally in scoring average (69.4) - combined to finish the fall slate at 23-under par. He went 7-under and claimed individual medalist honors at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial and placed second at the Wildcat Fall Invitational. The Rhody junior also had a pair of third-place finishes - at the Dartmouth Invitational and the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
With URI's 2020 spring season being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Francoeur wrapped up his junior campaign with four A-10 Golfer of the Week awards.
