NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Three Rhode Island teams were among 67 in the Atlantic 10 to be honored for their academic achievements with the NCAA's annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) public recognition.

Rhody's men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball programs earned the distinction, which goes to the teams that rank in the top 10 percent of their respective sports in APR scores. The public recognition is based on a multi-year score, compiled through the 2018-19 academic year.

"Once again, Atlantic 10 programs have shown the commitment to the long-term academic success of their student-athletes," stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. "Each year we have a record or near-record number of teams recognized, and that is a direct result of the hard work by those student-athletes in the classroom and the support our member institutions provide."

The Atlantic 10 was ranked among the top five of all 32 Division I conferences in the percentage of teams earning public recognition, marking the fourth straight year the league has earned this distinction. The 67 recognized teams ties the third highest recognition in A-10 history and just two off the record of 69, set last year.
