How It Happened
George Mason (7-7-0, 5-3-0 A-10) was to much for Rhode Island, defeating the Rams 2-0 Wednesday night in Fairfax, Va. The Rams were forced to play a man down for the final 65 minutes of the game as URI's leading scorer Dominik Richter was red carded midway through the first half.
The Patriots capitalized on the man advantage, getting a pair of second-half goals from Ryan Mingachos to secure their spot as the No. 3 seed in this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship.
Rhode Island (12-4-0, 5-3-0 A-10) will enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed, locking up the final quarterfinal host spot. The Rams will play host to Fordham on Sunday at 1 p.m.
