KINGSTON, R.I. - The top-seeded Rhode Island men's soccer team will host eighth-seeded Davidson in an Atlantic 10 quarterfinal matchup Saturday, Nov. 9, at the URI Soccer Complex. The Rams - who will look to defend their 2018 A-10 tournament title - enter the 2019 postseason as the conference's regular season champions.
Rhody was 7-1 in league play this year and ended the regular season with an overall record of 12-3-2. Davidson went 4-10-2 overall and 3-5-0 in the A-10. When the Rams and the Wildcats met earlier this season, URI won 2-0.
Rounding out the eight-team field for the Atlantic 10 Championship is second-seeded VCU, third-seeded Dayton, fourth-seeded Saint Louis, fifth-seeded Fordham, sixth-seeded La Salle and seventh-seeded George Mason.
The winner of the URI/Davidson game will advance to the conference semifinals, and take on the winner of Saturday's matchup between #4 Saint Louis and #5 Fordham.
Both semifinal games, as well as the A-10 title game, will be played at Fordham's Jack Coffey Field. Semifinal action will take place on Friday, Nov. 15. After an off day on Saturday, the semifinal winners will meet at noon on Sunday with the winner receiving the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
