KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island men's track & field team finished in 17th place out of 42 teams at the IC4A Indoor Championship in Boston, Mass. on Sunday.
The Rams scored 13.5 team points as they competed in four finals on day two. Albany (88) won the IC4A Championship, followed by host team Northeastern (57), Connecticut (57), Liberty (49) and William & Mary (40.5).
- In the 400-meter finals, junior Marlon Montague took fourth with a time of 48.22 seconds to earn five points for Rhody.
- Atlantic 10 and NEICAAA pole vault champion Ryan Wilkes tied for fourth at the IC4A with a height of 16-feet, 2.75-inches (4.95 meters). Wilkes earned four-and-a-half points for URI.
- The 4x800-meter relay team of Rock Fortna, Griffin Cobb, Joe DiPalma and Alexander McGrainer finished sixth in the finals with a time of 7:34.99 for three team points.
- Junior Casey Burley competed in the triple jump finals, taking eighth with a leap of 48-feet, 2.5-inches (14.69 meters) to earn him one point for the team.
The end of the IC4A Championship also means the end of the indoor season for Rhode Island. The Rams kick off outdoor season on Saturday, Apr. 1 at the Black & Gold Invitational at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
