Jessee Announces Addition of Silverman to 2020-21 Squad

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's soccer head coach Megan Jessee announced the addition of UNC Willmington transfer Sydney Silverman Thursday.

"I am excited to welcome Sydney to the Rhody women's soccer family," said Jessee. "Sydney is a great goalkeeper with a ton of potential. She will add much needed depth to the goalkeeper position. I'm looking forward to how she develops and pushes the other goalkeepers."


Before URI: Transfer from UNC Wilmington... Did not see any playing time during her freshman year with the Seahawks... Was a three-year starter at the Wheatley School... Earned All-County and All-State as a sophomore... Made 350 saves in her career... Led the Wildcats to three county championships and two Long Island titles... Named the Albertson Soccer Young Goalkeeper of the Year in 2014... Named the Albertson Soccer Junior Goalkeeper of the Year in 2015... Earned the Albertson Soccer ECNL Goalkeeper of the Year honors in 2016... Named the Senior Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017... Participated in the Eastern N.Y. South ODP team from 2012-14... Member of FC Fury DA club team that had a 13-6-5 record in the 2018-19 season... Was also a member of the basketball and lacrosse teams at Wheatley

Personal: Daughter of Tracy and Robert... Has one sister, Carly... Chose Rhode Island over Iona, Colgate, and Akron... Enjoys playing lacrosse, snowboarding, riding ATV's and watching hockey and football... Decided on Rhode Island because of the facilities and marine biology program... Favorite athlete is Lionel Messi... Favorite teams are FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC... Majoring in marine biology with plans of becoming a marine veterinarian
