KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island freshman Faith Musselwhite was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.
Musselwhite batted .533 over five games for the Rams at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Seahawk Softball Bash hosted by UNC Wilmington. The Apopka, Fla. native hit safely in all five games, belting two home runs, two doubles and one triple. Overall, she was 8-for-15 with six runs batted in and three runs scored.
In Sunday's 9-6 loss to UNC Wilmington, Musselwhite became the first Rhode Island player in three years to have a multi-home run game, going deep twice. She had two multi-hit games in the first weekend of her career.
Musselwhite is the first Ram to earn Rookie of the Week honors since Erika Yeager and Sarah Gunderson each did so during the 2017 season.
The Rams travel to Beaumont, Texas this weekend to play five games at the Lamar Cardinal Classic, which starts on Friday.
