Petta Places Second in 200-Yard Breaststroke on Final Day of A-10s

GENEVA, Ohio – Rhode Island senior Nicole Petta earned her second silver medal in as many days, placing second in the 200-yard breaststroke Saturday at the Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships.

Petta – who took second in the 100 breaststroke with a school-record time of 1:01.41 on Friday – finished just ahead of St. Bonaventure's Rachel Kimmel to earn 17 team points for the Rams. Petta finished with a time of 2:15.69, coming in .29 seconds in front of Kimmel. Duquesne's Abby Stauffer won the event with a time of 2:13.57.

Katy Evans added two points for the Rams by placing 15th in the 3-meter dive. She posted a score of 227.05. Fordham's Natalie Ortof just edged Evans for 14th place, scoring 227.25.

Rhode Island's final points of the meet came from the 4x400 free relay team of Maddie Horner, Mackenna Dunn, Grace Kneller and Eliza Anderson. The team finished 11th to earn 12 points.

Duquesne won the team title with 580.5 points, just ahead of George Washington, which finished with 562 points. Fordham (507.5), Richmond (505) and Massachusetts (333) rounded out the top five.
